In a country that’s known for its gun violence, Chicago is the poster child for gun violence.
In a city where one of every four residents is black, it’s easy to see why Chicago is often the setting for such attacks.
But the same can’t be said of other cities where gun violence is common, particularly in the South.
The most notable is Atlanta, which has had nearly 1,000 shooting deaths in the past four years, including dozens of fatal shootings by police officers, a large portion of them in neighborhoods with high crime.
While gun violence remains a huge problem in Atlanta, many of the city’s gun violence prevention efforts are aimed at improving the lives of residents, not criminals.
